What's difference Between Radiant and Convection


Radiant Heating/Cooling:

Convection Heating/Cooling:


  • Mechanism: Convection heating or cooling works through the movement of air. In this system, air is heated or cooled by a device (like a radiator or air conditioner) and then circulates throughout the room by natural or forced means (e.g., fans).
  • Heat Transfer: Heat is transferred to the air, which then circulates around the room, warming or cooling the space indirectly through the air.
  • Comfort: Convection systems can create drafts and uneven temperatures because the air movement can result in different areas of the room having varying temperatures.



What is the Difference Between Radiant Cooling and Air Conditioning


Radiant Cooling:


  • Mechanism: Radiant cooling uses cooled surfaces, such as panels or floors, to absorb heat from the room. The heat is transferred from the room's surfaces to the cooler radiant surfaces through thermal radiation.
  • Cooling Effect: It directly cools objects and people in the room by radiating heat away from them. The ambient air temperature may not change significantly, but the cooling effect on surfaces and bodies can provide comfort.

Air Conditioning:


  • Mechanism: Air conditioning systems cool air using refrigerants and then distribute the cooled air throughout the space using fans and ducts.
  • Cooling Effect: It cools the air in the room and controls humidity, providing a consistent and controlled environment. The system often involves more energy consumption due to the need to move and cool large volumes of air.

What is Radiant Cooling?


Radiant cooling is an innovative technology, it is basically the same as radiant heating. Menred water cooled silent AC panel is installed in ceilings or walls and circulates cold water for cooling system. Radiant cooling is comfortable and high efficiency when used in conjunction with heat pump and energy recovery ventilation system.


Radiant cooling is a method of cooling spaces by using surfaces that are kept at a lower temperature than the space itself. These surfaces absorb heat from the room through thermal radiation, creating a cooling effect.

Radiant Ceiling Panels: This panels are type of heating or cooling system installed in the ceiling of a building. When used for cooling, the panels absorb heat from the room, which is then transported away by a fluid(usually water) circulating within the panels. Energy recovery system: By integrating an energy recovery ventilator(ERV) with radiant cooling, you can enhance comfort by ensuring consistent indoor temperature and humidity levels while optimizing energy use. ERV is particularly valuable as they balance humidity levels by transferring moisture between exhaust and intake air. This can prevent issues related to excess humidity that can affect radiant cooling performance. The combined use of radiant cooling and energy recovery systems can lead to significant cost savings over time due to reduced energy consumption and lower operational cost.

The key advantage of radiant cooling is its ability to provide a high level of comfort without the need for moving air, which can be beneficial in reducing dust and noise.


How Efficiency of Radiant Cooling Systems


Efficiency Factors:


  • Thermal Comfort: Radiant cooling systems are often highly efficient in terms of energy use because they provide direct cooling without needing to move large volumes of air. This can lead to lower energy consumption compared to traditional air conditioning systems.
